Spectrum Dynamics Medical, a Shanghai-based specialist in medical molecular imaging, has reportedly secured hundreds of millions of renminbi in a new financing round. The round was led by Shanghai Healthcare Capital (SHC), a prominent municipal industry fund in Shanghai, with the participation of Oriental Fortune Capital. This funding round is expected to bolster Spectrum Dynamics’ position in the medical imaging sector.
As a pioneer in the application of cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) semiconductor detectors for medical imaging, Spectrum Dynamics developed the world’s first digital heart-specific single photon emission and computed tomography imaging system (SPECT system), D-SPECT, in 2007. D-SPECT now commands over half of the global market share for heart-specific SPECT equipment. Building on this innovation, in 2018, the company introduced the VERITON-CT to the global market. This high-energy full ring digital SPECT/CT product is the first and only of its kind, capable of direct imaging of multiple nuclides, including I-131.
