Shanghai Lange Medtech Partners with Yantai Desheng for Fish-Derived Rotator Cuff Patch

China-based Shanghai Lange Medtech Co., Ltd. has entered into a partnership with compatriot firm Yantai Desheng Marine Biotechnology Co., Ltd. to develop a fish-derived rotator cuff biological patch. The collaboration will also focus on constructing the largest fish-derived acellular matrix preparation technology platform in China and advancing clinical and scientific research applications. No financial details were disclosed.

Fish-Derived Acellular Matrix Advantages
Desheng’s acellular matrix material, derived from fish skin through unique patented technology, exhibits superior tensile and suture strength compared to pig- or cow-derived matrix materials of the same thickness. This material also offers significant cost-effectiveness and better clinical performance, with no known diseases transmitted to humans. Lange Medtech plans to integrate the biological patch with its innovative minimally invasive devices to enhance the regeneration and repair of mild and moderate rotator cuff tears in clinical sports medicine. This approach aims to provide robust repair and retention force for rotator cuff tissue reconstruction, enabling blood circulation reconstruction through the patient’s own tissue and reducing postoperative complications caused by synthetic mesh rejection.

Clinical Applications and Future Outlook
Desheng’s self-developed fish skin acellular matrix material maintains similarity with human tissues and can be widely used for various clinical biological patches, including orthopedics, dura mater, breast reconstruction, and other applications. The material will first be applied in the orthopedic field, covering the development and application of patches, artificial ligaments, dura mater, and orthopedic spine trauma repair in sports medicine.
