Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Zhongshan’s Bureau of Commerce announced a partnership at the China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) to establish a smart manufacturing and biomedical digital empowerment center. The initiative, leveraging AWS’s cloud, AI, and IoT technologies, aims to accelerate industrial upgrading in the Guangdong city.
Partnership Details
The center will empower local manufacturing and biomedical firms to adopt advanced digital tools, including cloud computing, big data, and AI. AWS’s global expertise and partner networks will support R&D, production, and marketing across the value chain. Financial terms were not disclosed. A similar agreement was signed with Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) for a biomed-focused digital hub.
AWS’s Biomedical and Pharma Solutions
AWS provides end-to-end tech solutions for pharma and biotech companies, covering drug R&D, clinical trials, production, marketing, and pharmacovigilance. The firm serves over 4,200 medical/life science clients globally. In 2022, AWS launched digital empowerment centers in Shanghai and Suzhou, Jiangsu, to support life sciences innovation.
Strategic Expansion
The Zhongshan deal underscores AWS’s push into China’s industrial and healthcare sectors. By integrating cloud and AI, the company aims to help local firms meet quality development goals and compete globally.
