GE Healthcare Takes Full Ownership of Japan's Nihon Medi-Physics

US medical device and life sciences giant GE Healthcare Technologies Inc., (NASDAQ: GEHC) announced that it has acquired full ownership of Nihon Medi-Physics Co., Ltd (NMP), a leading radiopharmaceutical company in Japan. The acquisition was completed through the purchase of the remaining 50% stake from Sumitomo Chemical, following the initial 50% stake acquired via the Amersham plc acquisition in 2004.

Strategic Move
As part of GE Healthcare, NMP will focus on accelerating the development of radiopharmaceuticals for use in single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET) molecular imaging. This acquisition strengthens GE Healthcare’s position in the growing field of molecular imaging and radiopharmaceuticals.
