Switzerland-based Clinique La Prairie Holistic Health SA has received approval for its functional nutrient product in Hainan’s Bo’ao Lecheng Pilot Zone. This marks the first case of temporarily imported health food in China, aimed at providing enhanced nutritional options for individuals seeking to alleviate physical fatigue.
Policy Background
In June 2022, the State Council authorized designated medical institutions within the Lecheng Pilot Zone to temporarily import limited quantities of overseas-approved health foods. This includes specialized medical foods for rare diseases and specific full-nutrition formulas. Following this, the Hainan provincial government issued two interim regulations in December 2022 to govern the temporary import and use of these health foods and special medical formulas within the pilot zone.
