US-based Johnson & Johnson MedTech announced the completion of the first batch of pulse electric field ablation surgeries in over 100 hospitals in China using its VARIPULSE Catheter. This marks a significant milestone for the company’s first pulse ablation (PFA) catheter approved in China, offering a new solution for patients with drug-resistant, recurrent, and symptomatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.
VARIPULSE Catheter and System Integration
The VARIPULSE Catheter, a fully integrated variable-loop multielectrode catheter, is combined with the TRUPULSE Generator cardiac pulse electric field ablation system and the classic CARTO 3 three-dimensional electroanatomic mapping system. This integrated approach provides an advanced treatment option for patients suffering from complex cardiac conditions.
Patient Satisfaction and Technology Details
The VARIPULSE catheter is built on a bi-directional, 8 Fr platform compatible with the CARTO VIZIGO Bi-Directional Guiding Sheath or similar 8.5 F inner lumen sheath. A study on patient tolerance in the inspIRE trial showed that under deep sedation conditions, 79% of patients using VARIPULSE were very satisfied with intraoperative pain management, and 86% of patients expressed a preference for using the same method for their next surgery.-Fineline Info & Tech
