FosunInsightec partnered with the Shanghai International Medical Center (SIMC) on August 11, 2025, to establish China’s first “Standardized Focused Ultrasound Treatment Demonstration Center.” The center aims to set a benchmark for the application of Magnetic Resonance-guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) in treating neurological diseases.
Center Objectives
The demonstration center will develop a standardized quality control system and a multi-center collaborative network. This initiative seeks to integrate MRgFUS technology more deeply into clinical practice, enhancing the treatment of neurological conditions.
MRgFUS Technology
MRgFUS combines MRI’s precise localization with the thermal effects of high-intensity focused ultrasound. This non-invasive technology allows for precise modulation of deep brain tissue, offering a safe and effective treatment option for patients with conditions such as essential tremor and Parkinson’s disease.
Global Recognition and Adoption
The technology has received major international certifications from the U.S. FDA, EU CE, and China’s NMPA. Currently, over 200 medical centers worldwide use this technology, having treated more than 20,000 patients.
