China’s NHC to Assume Management of Human Genetic Resources from May 2024

The National Health Commission (NHC) of China has announced that the State Council has approved the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on the Management of Human Genetic Resources. Effective from May 1, 2024, the NHC will oversee the management of these resources, with changes to the existing filing process and platform.

The implementation rules for this policy were detailed in June of the previous year and encompass human genetic resource information, including human genes and genome data derived from the use of human genetic resource materials, excluding clinical data, imaging data, protein data, and metabolic data. A notable addition to the regulations is the exclusion of the collection of human genetic resources for common diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, red-green color blindness, hemophilia, etc., from the management of significant genetic families.- Flcube.com
