Former Hainan Medical University President Li Jingquan Expelled for Serious Disciplinary Violations

Hainan’s disciplinary inspection committee has announced the expulsion of Li Jingquan, the former president of the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University, from the Communist Party and public office due to serious violations of discipline and law. Li was found to have committed multiple infractions, including accepting gifts and money, interfering in engineering projects, and leveraging his position for personal gain in equipment procurement and project contracting. He also resisted organizational scrutiny and violated established principles.

Li, who held a doctoral degree and was a chief physician and doctoral supervisor, was previously shortlisted for Hainan Province’s “Thousand Talents Program.” His extensive roles included Director of the Engineering Research Center for Tropical Drug Innovation and Transformation under the Ministry of Education, Director of the Hainan Branch of the National Clinical Research Center for Cancer, Chairman of the Tumor Vaccine Professional Committee of the China Anti-Cancer Association, and Vice President of the Hainan Provincial Medical Association.

Before his downfall, Li represented the First Affiliated Hospital in signing contracts with Boao Lecheng Pilot Zone, Boao Evergrande International Hospital, and China Stem Cell Group Affiliated Stem Cell Hospital, aiming to establish the Lecheng Clinical Translational Medicine Center Base.
