Corruption investigations have been launched against former senior officials of the Healthcare Security Administration (HSA) in Guizhou and Hainan provinces, according to the respective provincial disciplinary inspection commissions. In Guizhou, Song Yufeng, Chairman of the Social Construction Committee of the Guizhou Provincial People’s Congress, is under disciplinary review for serious violations of discipline and law. Song previously served as the Director of the Guizhou Provincial HSA from November 2018 to September 2020. Similarly, Cai Renjie, the former Party Secretary and Director of the Hainan Provincial HSA, is also facing a disciplinary investigation for alleged serious violations.
The National Health Commission announced in July 2023 an extension of a year-long centralized crackdown on corruption in the pharmaceutical industry, collaborating with nine other ministries.
