The National Health Commission (NHC) has issued a notification aimed at enhancing gerontology medical service capabilities, outlining specific work requirements. These include the construction of geriatric medicine departments, development of geriatric medical talent teams, standardization of geriatric medical diagnosis and treatment services, and enrichment of service models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Improving Geriatric Medicine Infrastructure and Talent Development<\/strong>
The document proposes improvements in the number and quality of professional personnel, as well as the allocation of beds and basic equipment and facilities, through the standardized construction of geriatric medicine. A multidisciplinary team with comprehensive continuous service capabilities will be formed by strengthening the construction of the elderly medical talent team, with a focus on enhancing the concept of healthy aging and training on elderly health-related knowledge and skills. The transformation of geriatric medicine from “disease centered” to “people-centered” will be achieved by standardizing and optimizing service models and innovating service models and content through multidisciplinary joint diagnosis and treatment, comorbidity management, etc. The goal is for 80% of Class II or above comprehensive hospitals to establish standardized geriatric medicine departments by the end of 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
