Peking University People\u2019s Hospital has officially unveiled the plaque for the National Standardized Pain Treatment Center, marking a significant step in promoting high-quality pain medical resources across China. The center is designed to channel expertise and resources to grassroots levels through initiatives such as talent cultivation and clinical support, enhancing the standard of pain treatment nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

National Initiative for Standardized Pain Centers<\/strong>
Upon its establishment, the center is poised to assist in the construction of 20 to 30 standardized pain diagnosis and treatment centers in county-level (city, district) medical institutions across the country. Additionally, the completion of 10 to 15 standardized pain diagnosis and treatment centers in grassroots hospitals is scheduled by 2024, further expanding access to quality pain management services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Integrated Pain Management Pilot Work Plan<\/strong>
In line with the “Integrated Pain Management Pilot Work Plan” released by the National Health Commission in January 2023, the center will play a pivotal role in selecting hospitals to pilot pain management programs from 2022 to 2025. The initiative aims to establish integrated pain management systems, improve medical staff\u2019s capabilities in pain diagnosis and treatment, explore in-hospital incentive systems, and enhance health education for patients and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beijing Center’s Focus on Chronic Pain<\/strong>
Based in Beijing, the center will start by addressing “chronic pain” issues, which typically require more than three months to manage. It will evaluate the infrastructure and technical level of pain clinics in grassroots hospitals and provide targeted training.
