Understanding the Impact of Chronic Pruritus<\/strong>
Pruritus, or itching, is an unpleasant sensation that triggers the urge to scratch. This condition not only affects the patient’s emotional well-being but also poses a risk of skin damage and infection due to repeated scratching, severely impacting the patient’s quality of life. The incidence rate of chronic pruritus is over 10% in adults and can reach as high as 60% in the elderly population.
