China-based Simcere Pharmaceutical Group Limited’s (HKG: 2096<\/a>) subsidiary, Simcere Zaiming, has announced the first patient dosing in a global clinical study for its Pol \u03b8 inhibitor, SIM0508, which targets advanced solid tumors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global Phase I Study Design and Approval<\/strong>
The global multi-center, open-label Phase I study is designed to assess the safety, pharmacokinetics, and anti-tumor activity of SIM0508, both as a monotherapy and in combination with other treatments, for locally advanced or metastatic solid tumors. The study received clearance in China and the US in August 2024, marking a significant step forward in the clinical development of SIM0508.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SIM0508’s Mechanism of Action and Pre-clinical Performance<\/strong>
SIM0508 is the first domestically developed Pol\u03b8 inhibitor to enter clinical trials, capable of selectively inhibiting the proliferation of tumor cells with homologous recombination deficiency (HRD). It achieves this by inhibiting the activity of Pol \u03b8 and blocking the repair of tumor DNA through microhomology mediated terminal junction (MMEJ).
