It is designed to quickly alleviate depressive symptoms in adults with acute suicidal ideation or behavior. While traditional antidepressants primarily act on the monoamine pathway and can take 4 to 6 weeks to achieve full efficacy, Spravato differentiates itself by antagonizing the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor, enabling rapid relief through a nasal spray administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Clinical Efficacy and Global Approvals<\/strong><br>Spravato nasal spray was first approved for marketing in the US in March 2019, with clinical data demonstrating effects as early as four hours post-administration.
