The grant will facilitate the expansion of Pharmaron’s existing viral vector and DNA manufacturing facility in Liverpool, with the company committing to invest GBP 151 million (USD 187 million) into the site, adding 3,500 square meters of commercial-scale GMP manufacturing capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liverpool Facility Acquisition and Current Operations<\/strong>
Pharmaron acquired the Liverpool cell and gene therapy (CGT) site from AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV<\/a>) in 2021, which was previously Allergan\u2019s global center of excellence for biologic drug substance development. The facility is a hub for gene therapy process development, including the production of viral vectors, DNA, and RNA drug substances, as well as drug product formulation services.
