The National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA) has responded to the No. 6184 suggestion from the 5th session of the 13th National People’s Congress regarding the inclusion of dental implants in the National Reimbursement Drug List (NRDL). The NHSA clarified that fixed and removable dentures are not covered by the NRDL, and dental implants are considered to have a higher medical need level than dentures. Given factors such as fairness, rationality, and the financing capacity of the NRDL fund, it is not yet feasible to include dental implants in the NRDL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volume-Based Procurement Plan<\/strong>
The NHSA previously conducted surveys and gathered public feedback on this matter last month. Based on the feedback, the bureau developed a preliminary volume-based procurement (VBP) plan aimed at lowering oral implant prices and regulating dental implant service prices in Class 3 public hospitals. The NHSA pledged to formulate oral diagnosis and treatment norms, including those for dental implants, to enhance the regulation of oral medical institutions and standardize relevant diagnostic and treatment activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NHSA’s response and planned measures reflect the ongoing efforts to balance the need for accessible dental care with the financial sustainability of the national reimbursement system.
