Shanghai-based Kangpu Biopharmaceuticals, Ltd has announced the first patient dosing in a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase IIa clinical study. The trial aims to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary efficacy of KPG-818, an orally bioavailable NeoMIDES molecular glue, in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mechanism and Development<\/strong>
KPG-818 is a novel orally bioavailable modulator of the E3 ubiquitin ligase complex containing cereblon (CRL4-CRBN E3 ubiquitin ligase). It is being developed for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and hematologic malignancies. In a recent Phase Ib clinical study in the US, KPG-818 showed good tolerability, favorable pharmacokinetics, and significant potency for degrading Ikaros and Aiolos (IKZF1 and IKZF3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
