It is used to identify regions of altered osteoblastic activity in bone imaging. The fluoride [18F] ions in the injection undergo ion exchange with hydroxyl groups in bone hydroxyapatite crystals, forming fluoroapatite. This compound chemisorbs to bone tissue, enabling earlier and more sensitive detection of bone metastases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Clinical Applications<\/strong><br>Clinical trials have demonstrated the excellent diagnostic efficacy and favorable safety profile of sodium fluoride [18F].
