Sino-US AI drug development company XtalPi (QuantumPharm, HKG: 2228<\/a>) has entered into a strategic partnership with Switzerland-based ABB Robotics, aiming to manufacture a series of automated laboratory workstations within China. These workstations, featuring ABB’s GoFa robots, are anticipated to enhance the productivity of R&D processes across biopharmaceuticals, chemical engineering, chemistry, and new energy materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership builds on an existing relationship between the two firms. In 2022, XtalPi acquired over 100 GoFa cobots to establish automated laboratory workstations at a testing facility in Shanghai, China. XtalPi launched its XtalPi Intelligent Automation brand last year, focusing on providing automation equipment for the synthesis and crystallization processes in drug development. This initiative aims to expedite and reduce the costs associated with drug development. ABB’s cobots are capable of performing hundreds of complex tasks, including working in ‘glove boxes’ that are devoid of oxygen or moisture.
