Takeda (TYO: 4502) has reportedly renewed and expanded a series of partnerships to bolster its Takeda Spark incubator program in China. Initially launched in 2021, the incubator program partners with consulting firms PricewaterhouseCoopers and Accenture, tech giant Amazon Web Services, and the investment fund Shanghai Biopharmaceutical Innovative Transformation Fund.
Takeda China leads the TakedaSpark initiative, which is designed to provide incubation and collaboration opportunities for startups with technologies that align with Takeda’s interests. These include digital therapeutics, software to enhance disease solutions, early screening and diagnostic tools, and smart services that leverage the Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data to enhance patient care journeys.
According to YiCai, over 200 companies have joined the platform, and 12 innovative plans have had their concepts validated. Citing Takeda China’s president, Sean Shan, the company invests over CNY15 billion (approximately USD2 billion) annually in global digital innovation, reforms, research and development, as well as production and business operations.
