China’s National Allied Procurement Office Announces VBP Tender for Medical Consumables and 3D Printing Products

The National Allied Procurement Office has released a notification outlining plans for a volume-based procurement (VBP) tender, focusing on artificial lenses and sports medicine medical consumables, with an encouragement for products utilizing additive manufacturing technology, namely 3D printing, to participate.

Scope of the Tender
The tender’s scope encompasses a range of medical consumables. For artificial lenses, this includes related consumables (excluding hard intraocular lenses) and viscoelastic agents that have received approval in China. This also covers artificial crystal consumables and accompanying injectors. In the realm of sports medicine, the tender includes threaded anchor nails, knot-free anchor nails, fixed nails, fixed plates, repair sutures, soft tissue reconstruction materials, and bone reconstruction materials (excluding products used in craniofacial regions; BMP products containing bone morphogenesis can participate voluntarily) that have obtained marketing approvals in China.

Annual Procurement Demands
The annual procurement demand for artificial crystal consumables, including injectors, is 1,917,103 units. For viscoelastic agent consumables, the demand stands at 2,447,139 boxes, equating to 2,254,797.3 mls. The demand for consumables with wire anchor nails is 461,820 units, while non-knotting anchor nail consumables have an annual procurement demand of 139,245 units. Fixed nail consumables require 114,629 units annually, and fixed board consumables demand 109,687 units. Repairing suture consumables have an annual procurement demand of 209,221 pieces, soft tissue reconstruction consumables 167,507 units, and bone reconstruction consumables 328,396 packages, which is equivalent to 2,210,649.28 cubic centimeters.

Participation Guidelines
Manufacturers interested in participating in this VBP tender are advised to submit their applications by November 29 at the official portal fuwu.nhsa.gov.cn. The filing materials will be collected on November 30 in Tianjin, marking a key step in the procurement process.- Flcube.com
