China Unveils Comprehensive 2030 Plan to Combat Diabetes

China’s National Health Commission (NHC), in collaboration with 12 other ministries, has unveiled the ‘Health China Action-Diabetes Prevention and Treatment Action Implementation Plan (2024-2030),’ setting ambitious targets to combat diabetes. The plan aims to raise awareness of the condition among residents aged 18 and above to over 60% by 2030, with a standardized management rate for diabetic patients reaching 70% or higher. It also targets continuous increases in treatment, control, and complication screening rates. The initiative encompasses a range of specific measures, including risk factor control to reduce diabetes incidence, strengthening of the prevention and treatment system, and the integration of medical and preventive healthcare. The plan further emphasizes the improvement of diagnostic and treatment capabilities, optimization of healthcare management, and the integration of traditional Chinese and Western medical practices.
