Swiss giant Roche’s (SWX: ROG) China unit and Roche Diagnostics’ China unit entered into a cooperation memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shanghai’s Class 3A Zhongshan Hospital, a major teaching hospital affiliated to China’s National Health Commission. The three entities will collaborate on clinical studies in cancer and other diseases, create Shanghai’s international medical science and innovation center, bolster “smart hospital” infrastructure, and more. Collaboration Details
Specifically, Roche and Zhongshan will:
- Explore and carry out early clinical research and drug development cooperation in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases, including cancer; jointly carry out clinical trials of drugs in various phases and real-world clinical research; and provide academic support for Zhongshan Hospital in scientific research talent training and echelon construction, so as to help the hospital build the Shanghai International Medical Science and Innovation Center.
- Support the construction of the hospital’s international academic exchange platform and enhance the hospital’s discipline capacity; promote the construction of the hospital’s national medical center.
- With cutting-edge information technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data, combined with Roche diagnostic laboratory automation solutions, they will continue to innovate in the three directions of lean, intelligent, and sustainable laboratories; jointly build new-generation intelligent laboratories; and enable smart hospitals and smart medical care.
- Combining the advantages of the two sides in cutting-edge medical research and advanced testing technology, they will jointly carry out various clinical research, and promote the further improvement of clinical research capability by helping to strengthen the standardization and standardized management of laboratory diagnosis in clinical research.
