Boston Scientific Launches Disposable RF Electrode for Chronic Pain in China

Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE: BSX), a US-based medical device company, has announced the official market launch of its disposable injectable radiofrequency (RF) electrode, the Unified Electrode, in China. The product is designed for the treatment of chronic pain and peripheral neuropathy-related diseases.

Market Need and Innovation
Statistics indicate that China has over 300 million people suffering from chronic pain, with the number increasing by 10 to 20 million annually. Chronic pain has become the third major health issue in the country, following cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and tumors. The Unified Electrode innovatively integrates the trocar, electrode, and injection port into one device, significantly simplifying the surgical procedure. This design improves surgical efficiency, enhances accuracy, and reduces the risks associated with instrument exchange during surgery.

Partnership with Fujifilm SonoSite
In April this year, Boston Scientific partnered with Fujifilm SonoSite to provide the industry’s first complete ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation solution for pain management and rehabilitation in China. The combination of the Unified Electrode and Fujifilm SonoSite’s ultrasonic visualization technology offers a comprehensive solution to address chronic pain and related conditions.-Fineline Info & Tech
