Guangdong Pharmaceutical Association Expands Off-Label Drug Use Catalogue for 2024

The Guangdong Pharmaceutical Association (GDPA) has released the Off-label Drug Use Catalogue for the year 2024, which includes 44 additional off-label uses, with half of these being based on approved indications in the United States. As an academic, non-profit social organization, GDPA has been a pioneer in establishing off-label drug use standards in China.

In 2010, GDPA published the “Chinese Pharmacists Propose Patient Consent for Unlabeled Use of Medications,” marking the first set of guidelines for off-label drug use in the country. This was followed by the Expert Consensus on Off-Label Drug Use in Medical Institutions in 2014, which was released by the association’s legal entity. Since 2015, the annual Off-label Drug Use Catalogue has been published, providing a reference for medical professionals. The practice of off-label drug use was officially included in the Physicians Law in China in August 2021.- Flcube.com
