China’s National Health Commission (NHC), in collaboration with two other bureaus, has unveiled the “All-Citizen Health Literacy Plan (2024-2027),” marking a strategic shift in the country’s health literacy focus from a “disease-focused” approach to a “health-focused” one.
As part of the ongoing Healthy China 2035 initiative, the NHC acknowledges that the current health literacy level, reported at 29.7% in 2023, requires significant enhancement. The new plan outlines key objectives, which include: ① Increasing the production of high-quality health science popularization materials to enhance the reach and efficacy of health science communication services; ② Standardizing the dissemination of health science information to ensure accuracy and reliability; ③ Bolstering the development of health education professionals to improve the quality of health education; ④ Enhancing social advocacy and mobilization efforts, with an annual Health Literacy Awareness Month established in June.- Flcube.com
