Siemens Healthineers AG, the German medical technology major, has entered into a strategic partnership with Ruijin Hospital, a Class 3A teaching hospital based in Shanghai. The collaboration aims at developing “Medical digital human metaverse application scenarios,” marking a significant step in the integration of metaverse technology into healthcare.
Siemens Healthineers is the sole medical device company to be selected for Shanghai’s second metaverse major application scenario demand project, which emphasizes the substantial digital eco-social and industry development needs. As part of this initiative, 40 major application scenarios have been chosen for development.
Ruijin Hospital, recognized as one of the medical scenario pioneers in this project, is focused on the core application scenario of medical digital humans. The hospital aims to establish an industry-leading metaverse intelligent virtual surgery system to enhance clinical medical processes, particularly critical phases like surgery and critical care. The system supports multi-scenario digital twin applications, including preoperative planning, intraoperative navigation, and postoperative review. This innovation is expected to significantly reduce surgical risks, enhance surgical success rates, and ultimately provide patients with safer and more efficient medical services. However, the financial details of the partnership have not been disclosed.- Flcube.com
