MicroPort MedBot’s Toumai Robot Gets EU Green Light for Broad Surgical Applications

Shanghai MicroPort MedBot (Group) Co., Ltd (HKG: 2252) has announced that its Toumai endoscopic surgery robot has received CE qualification from the European Union, allowing the product to be marketed and used for urology, general surgery, thoracic surgery, and gynecological endoscopic surgeries within the EU. The Toumai robot is the first and currently only domestically produced product of its kind to achieve CE status in the region.

The Toumai endoscopic surgery robot is designed to perform complex surgeries with minimally invasive techniques. It features an agile robotic arm that enables precise operations, enhances surgical safety, and reduces surgeon fatigue. Surgeons can operate while seated at a console, observing immersive 3D high-definition images of the surgical field and controlling the robotic arm to manipulate surgical instruments inside the patient’s body. The system provides a range of movements that mimic the human wrist and filters out natural hand tremors. With over 3,000 robot-assisted clinical validation surgeries completed in more than 90 hospitals across China and internationally, including 200 5G remote surgery cases, Toumai has demonstrated its reliability and efficacy in surgical applications.- Flcube.com
