The Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone has launched the “Lecheng Global Special Medical Insurance,” a new initiative that allows immediate patient enrollment. In conjunction with this launch, the Hainan Boao Lecheng Medical and Commercial Integration Research and Development Center, H2 Global Assistance Sdn Bhd, and Yuan Xin Insurance Services have agreed to collaborate on developing comprehensive product portfolios and service solutions aimed at enhancing the accessibility and affordability of innovative drugs and medical devices.
The “Lecheng Global Special Medical Insurance” is spearheaded by the Hainan Boao Lecheng Pilot Zone Management Bureau and is supported by various provincial government departments, including the Healthcare Security Bureau, Financial Regulatory Administration, and Medical Products Administration. The insurance product is a joint development effort by China Pacific Property Insurance, Ant Group’s insurance arm, and Yuanxin Huibao. The coverage includes outpatient or inpatient treatment expenses at designated medical institutions within the Bo’ao medical pilot zone in Hainan, such as Ruijin Hospital, Boao Super Hospital, and Boao Evergrande International Hospital. The list of covered drugs and devices comprises 50 domestic specialty drugs, 31 imported specialty drugs, and 5 types of imported medical devices, addressing high-incidence diseases like breast cancer, lung cancer, liver cancer, and lymphoma.
The insurance is open to all individuals, regardless of their occupation or household registration status. The monthly premium begins at RMB 10.17, with a maximum coverage limit of RMB 6 million. Policyholders receiving inpatient treatment at a designated medical institution within the Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone are eligible for a medical hospitalization allowance insurance of RMB 100 per day, up to a maximum of 90 days per visit and a cumulative maximum of 180 days.
