Henan Province Sees 53.6% Price Reduction in Neuro and Peripheral Intervention Consumables Tender

The Henan Province Public Resources Trading Center has released a notification regarding the completion of price negotiations for neural intervention and peripheral intervention high-value consumable products as part of a consumables alliance procurement tender. The tender, which covered 2,323 specifications, resulted in an average price reduction of 53.6%.

Led by Major Hospitals, Significant Savings Achieved
The Henan medical consumables procurement alliance was spearheaded by the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University and Henan Provincial People’s Hospital. These leading institutions organized 81 Class 3A public hospitals to engage in negotiations with medical consumables manufacturers. “While the national volume-based procurement (VBP) of coronary stents led to a significant price decrease, the same was not observed for neural intervention and peripheral intervention high-value consumables,” noted a responsible person from the Henan Province Public Resources Trading Center.

Manufacturer Participation and Tender Outcomes
A total of 108 manufacturers participated in the event, including 38 from overseas. After centralized tendering and two rounds of negotiation, 76 companies were awarded bid spots. The tender is projected to reduce Henan’s provincial market value for the two product types to RMB 1.15 billion (USD 167.3 million) annually, down from the previous RMB 2.46 billion (USD 357.8 million).-Fineline Info & Tech
