NHC Urges Hospitals to Establish Healthy Weight Management Clinics by June

The National Health Commission (NHC) has issued a notification encouraging eligible Class 3 general hospitals, children’s hospitals, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospitals to establish healthy weight management clinics. Hospitals affiliated with or managed by the NHC, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and provincial (autonomous region/municipality) governments are required to complete this initiative by the end of June.

Requirements and Implementation
Hospitals providing outpatient services for healthy weight management are directed to strengthen internal coordination and allocate professional resources across departments. They should set up centralized clinics equipped with relatively fixed departments, including pediatrics, general practice, endocrinology, clinical nutrition, psychiatry, cardiovascular medicine, gastroenterology, general surgery, rehabilitation medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine. These clinics should arrange outpatient services with reasonable frequency to ensure comprehensive care.

Comprehensive Obesity Prevention Centers
Hospitals with strong comprehensive capabilities are encouraged to establish obesity prevention and control centers. These centers will provide inpatient services related to healthy weight management, further enhancing the depth and breadth of care for patients struggling with weight-related issues.-Fineline Info & Tech
