Nigeria-based pharmaceutical manufacturer Fidson Healthcare Plc has entered into a strategic partnership with Jiansu Aidea Pharma, Nanjing PharmaBlock, and the China-Africa Development Fund to establish a state-of-the-art drug manufacturing facility in the Lekki free trade zone near Lagos, Nigeria. This joint venture aims to enhance local production capabilities, particularly for HIV treatments, thereby bolstering Nigeria’s self-reliance in pharmaceuticals.
The new plant is expected to leverage the combined expertise of the Chinese partners and Fidson Healthcare to focus on the development of HIV drugs, aligning with Nigeria’s pressing public health needs. The collaboration will not only increase access to essential medicines but also contribute to the country’s goal of improving its healthcare infrastructure and reducing reliance on imports. -Fineline Info & Tech
