Singapore-based medical device company Genesis MedTech has announced that it has received market approval in China for its absorbable sutures with antibacterial protection. Genesis’s sutures are uniquely coated with triclosan, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent. This coating provides effective inhibition against the growth of both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as related infections. The sutures are capable of preventing infections caused by bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis (MRSE).
