MSD Partners with Cancer Foundation of China for HPV Vaccine Donation Program

Merck, Sharp & Dohme (MSD; NYSE: MRK) has entered into a donation agreement with the Cancer Foundation of China (CFC) to support a cervical cancer prevention and control program. Under this agreement, MSD will donate a total of 81,000 doses of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to the CFC. The vaccines are intended for free vaccination of approximately 27,000 junior high school girls in counties across Shanxi, Yunnan, Sichuan, and Anhui provinces.

Addressing the HPV Health Threat in China
HPV infection and the subsequent risk of cervical cancer represent a significant health threat to females in China. MSD is actively promoting HPV vaccine access at the grassroots level, with Gardasil/Gardasil 9 being the vaccines available on the market. This donation program is a step towards increasing vaccination rates and improving public health outcomes in the country.

The Impact of Grassroots Vaccination Efforts
By partnering with the Cancer Foundation of China, MSD aims to make a tangible difference in the communities that need it most. The donation of HPV vaccines to junior high school girls in these provinces will contribute to reducing the incidence of cervical cancer and enhancing the overall health and well-being of the targeted population.-Fineline Info & Tech
