Life Sciences Technologies Affected
In the life sciences sector, technologies banned from export include those used for human cell cloning and gene editing. Specifically, the list includes:
- Somatic cell cloning technology, covering nuclear extraction and removal, nuclear transfer, embryo transfer, and key enzymes for cell activation.
- Human gene editing technologies, including ZFN, TALEN, and CRISPR technologies, specific nucleases, homologous recombination, point knockout, gene introduction, fragment deletion, and multi-site mutation technologies.
The MOF has specifically prohibited the export of CRISPR technology applied in ethically controversial areas, such as gene editing in embryonic cells, egg cells, and sperm cells, or other areas with potential serious consequences during research.-Fineline Info & Tech
