Haisco Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd (SHE: 002653) has announced that it has received marketing approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for its Category 1 drug HSK21542, indicated for mild to moderate pain following abdominal surgery.
HSK21542: Mechanism and Benefits
HSK21542 is a selective peripheral Kappa receptor agonist characterized by high selectivity and affinity. It works by synergistically regulating potassium and calcium currents with the participation of G protein. The drug inhibits itching by blocking the transmission of itching signals and reduces the excitability of the dorsal root ganglion and peripheral sensory nerves. This action decreases the release of inflammatory factors and neurotransmitters. Importantly, HSK21542 does not cross the blood-brain barrier, allowing it to provide peripheral analgesic and anti-itch effects while avoiding central opioid-related side effects such as hallucinations, addiction, and respiratory depression.-Fineline Info & Tech
