Genesis MedTech Wins NMPA Approval for Locally Developed Thrombus Aspiration Catheter

Singapore-based Genesis MedTech announced that it has received marketing approval from China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for its Genclear thrombus aspiration catheter. This marks the first domestically developed negative-pressure mechanical thrombus aspiration catheter to receive approval in China.

Product Development and Features
The Genclear thrombus aspiration catheter was co-developed with Penumbra Inc. Genesis was authorized by the US medical firm to develop, manufacture, and file for marketing in China, utilizing the original raw materials, technology, and manufacturing processes. The device employs a negative-pressure aspiration pump to mechanically remove thrombi, significantly enhancing thrombus aspiration efficiency.

Innovative Design
The catheter is manufactured using hypotube cutting technology throughout its structure. Its distal tip design has been optimized to facilitate rapid navigation through tortuous blood vessels while reducing the risk of vascular endothelial injury. The large inner lumen design ensures high-flow aspiration capacity and minimizes the risk of catheter occlusion.-Fineline Info & Tech
